MPs write to major supermarkets, as pressure grows over the huge amounts of plastic waste they generate. 200 cross-party MPs are calling on heads of the major supermarkets to eliminate plastic packaging from their products by 2023.

Science indicates that several planetary boundaries have already been breached, including genetic biodiversity, biochemical (nitrogen and phosphorus) fow, land-system change and climate change. Large scale, transformational change is needed to deal with these problems, and without a stable and healthy Earth system the Sustainable Development Goals will not be achieved.

The National Green Growth Strategy was issued by the Government on 25/9/2012 by the decision 1393/QD-TTg. It focuses on three groups of main tasks in the period of 2001-2020 with a vision for 2050: reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity and promoting clean and renewable energy; greening production, and greening consumption.

Taking place for a week with a series of meetings and related events, the 6th Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly ended successfully on 29th June 2018. This is the most important global environment event hosted by Việt Nam with about 1,500 high level participants from nearly 180 GEF member countries and major international organizations.
